Every year Capitol Concerts produces two of the highest rated programs on PBS. Our programs, The National Memorial Day Concert and A Capitol Fourth,
help us all celebrate America and those who have protected the freedom that makes this nation great. We are proud
to bring these live broadcasts to millions of viewers across the country and to the hundereds of thousands joining us
on the Capitol lawn. The National Memorial Day Concert
It's been sixty years since American troops landed on the beaches
of Normandy, yet the images of that bloody conflict remain
sharp, etched as clearly in our minds as though it were yesterday. On the eve of Memorial Day, an annual tradition honors the bravery and sacrifice of the American servicemen and women who participated in the valiant air and sea campaign that was to change history. PBS' top-rated, multi-award winning National Memorial Day Concert will bring to life the moving stories of the soldiers who landed on the now legendary Omaha Beach as we join the nation in commemorating D-Day. Dedicated to all the Americans who have served or made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, the concert will also pay special tribute to the troops in Iraq who have been disabled in combat; and present the moving stories of children who have lost a parent to war. Celebrating its 15th year on air, the nation's premier holiday event is broadcast live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol and can be seen overseas on the American Forces Radio and Television Network.
